We offer a unique river rafting experience for cruise ship passengers arriving in Napier. It gives you a chance to get away from the bustle of the city and into the wild spaces of New Zealand.
The trip begins with a bus tour departing from the Napier i-Site following the old trails of Maori and the early settlers up into inland Hawke’s Bay. We pass the old stage stop of Te Pohue and up to the ‘saddle’ at the top of the range 1,000 metres above sea level.
We kit you out at our base for river rafting and then travel to our beautiful river. There you’ll enjoy gentle Grade 2 white water and pleasant places to swim as you float through the beautiful scenery. After your trip, enjoy a light lunch before we bring you back to your ship.
The cost is $205 NZD for adults and $185 NZD for children under 12 years.
Trips last for about 5 hours
This river rafting experience is recommended for people aged 5 and older.
The Grade 2 Mohaka trip is a great introduction to white-water rafting and is suitable for people of all levels of rafting experience. It features smaller rapids that are easy to navigate by raft. The scenery includes wild New Zealand gorges, forests and farms.
Will I make it back to my cruise ship on time?
We’ve offered this trip since we started our business, and guarantee we will get you back to your ship on time. We check the Napier Port Cruise Ship schedule to determine if we can run the trip. If you’re unsure, just let us know what ship you’re arriving on and we’ll let you know if you can take the trip.
Why is this trip less expensive than the one I can buy on the ship?
As you are purchasing the trip directly from us, the price doesn’t include agent fees. Also, rafting trips you might be able to purchase from the ship are not necessarily operated by Mohaka Rafting and may be a different package and experience.
